Warren Energy Engineering provides a full range of audit services from
walk-through audits (ASHRAE Level I), preliminary scoping studies (ASHRAE Level
II), to investment grade audits (ASHRAE Level III). Our audits meet the
requirements of LEED-EB:O&M EA Prerequisite 1 and LEED-EB:O&M EA Credit 2.1
using Option B.
An investment-grade energy audit conducted by Warren Energy Engineering will
include an in-depth investigation of the facility, analysis of opportunities,
and assessment of potential projects. We rely on state-of-the-art tools and
calculation methods and stay informed of the latest developments in energy
efficiency. Whenever possible, we make use of short term metering to record
actual facility operating conditions and use such data to identify deviations
from intended design and control. We most commonly perform our savings estimates
with proven custom spreadsheet-based calculations. Such calculations are fully
documented and transparent. For customers who require greater detail,
whole-building simulations, most commonly performed with eQUEST, are also
offered.

Warren Energy Engineering is an engineering analysis resource for evaluating and
verifying the impacts of energy efficiency programs. We perform on-site
assessments of measures to confirm proper installations. We then review program
savings projections in order to assess program impacts and facilitate future
improvements to the program. We are accustomed to seeing applications that are
unique and have performed such evaluations in several industries. We take pride
in applying sound engineering methods to evaluate the accuracy of projected
energy savings.

We have extensive experience conducting new construction design assistance in
commercial buildings. We provide this service directly to end-users and their
design teams. We also assist other firms through computer modeling support.
DOE-2 is the most popular, and time-proven, hourly model for estimating energy
use in buildings. Using the eQUEST™ implementation of the tool allows us to
promptly and accurately build models for use in schematic design. The software
incorporates a database of default information (such as schedules, construction
materials, design specifications, etc.) to facilitate timely modeling solution.
Our modeling services are ideal during the schematic design stages of buildings
when many project details may not be available. eQUEST™ maintains the full DOE-2
rigor, further allowing us to incorporate complex details when modeling existing
buildings or completed designs. This has been the primary tool used in our
larger new construction analysis projects.
We perform these services in support of LEED-NC applications through our
partnership with Tillou
Engineering.

Warren Energy Engineering can provide complete measurement and verification
services in support of performance contracts or other projects where proven
energy savings are required. We have performed short and long-term monitoring at
numerous facilities and are well versed in the leading M&V protocols including
the International
Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP), the Federal
Energy Management Program (FEMP) application of the protocol, and California’s
Standard Performance Contract (SPC) protocols. Mr. Warren is a member of the
Efficiency Valuation Organization’s IPMVP Committee.
We have extensive experience performing all of the potentially complex IPMVP
options. We are expert users of the
Metrix™ software for
performing whole building billing analyses, Option C, and also expert users of
eQUEST for the calibrated simulations required under Option D.
Provided with accurate and complete energy usage history for your facilities,
Warren Energy Engineering compares your energy usage to other similar facilities
within or outside your organization. This is a great first step prioritizing
energy audits within a large population of facilities. One benchmarking option
we provide, is to use the EPA EnergyStar portfolio manager as a standalone
benchmarking tool or as the first step to
EnergyStar Certification.
Utility bill auditing consists primarily of 1) checking your past bills for
errors and 2) checking if more favorable rate schedules are available for your
accounts. These actions can be a worthwhile step in a comprehensive energy
management program. Warren Energy Engineering, LLC will partner with
Abraxas Energy Consulting to provide
this service as part of a larger effort. If you are interested in this function
alone, we encourage you to retain Abraxas directly.
Most major building types (including office buildings, K-12 Schools, retailers)
as well as several industrial facilities (including auto assembly plants and
cement plants) are eligible for
ENERGY STAR Certification. Such certifications require both benchmarking of
energy bills and a certification statement by a registered P.E. Warren Energy
Engineering, LLC has staff licensed in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New York, and
California and has partnerships with P.E.s in many other states.
Demand Response Programs are an increasingly important resource for reducing
energy costs are large facilities. In our area, the PJM, NYISO, and ISO New
England all offer attractive programs that reward customers for reducing demand
in response to grid needs. We combine an assessment of your facility with
interviews with management to determine the technically feasible and
institutionally acceptable measures. We have conducted studies for several large
universities and manufacturing facilities.
While Warren Energy Engineering, LLC is primarily an energy engineering
provider, we partner with other firms to provide energy management services.
Specifically, we support
Not Hot
Industries, the leading provider of energy strategy and management services.
Their approach goes well beyond energy audits and procurement, incorporating
elements of information technology, knowledge management, and business
management.
Retrocommissioning calls on many of the same skills as an energy audit. We find
and correct the areas in which a building is using energy suboptimally. True
retrocommissioning relies heavily on metering and monitoring of building
systems. We are a Quality Assurance contractor with NYSERDA for their
Retrocommissioning program, overseeing and approving project reports, M&V plans,
and M&V reports. Measurement and verification (M&V) for retrocommissioning can
be a complicated matter, and Mr. Warren is proud to serve on the Technical
Advisory Group for the California Commissioning Collaborative’s Verification of
Savings in Retrocommissioning Project.
Much of our work is preformed in support of utility or public goods funded
energy efficiency programs. We adapt our analyses to the requirements of the
program. Our knowledge of program evaluation has improved our program support
work by allowing us to most fully understand the ways in which programs must
document and defend their results.
